How do I re install windows 7

Hi

i have decided I don't like windows 8 and would like to do a clean re install of windows 7.

how do I do it, if I start Win7 through win8 I don't get the clean install option, for that it tells me to boot the DVD and install that way, but the trouble is for some reason if I boot to the DVD the setup process just hangs at the win7 splash screen.

how do I do a fresh clean re install of win7.

The tutorial below can show you how to do a clean install of Windows 7.

If needed, you could download a Windows 7 ISO for your 32-bit or 64-bit edition of Windows 7 to create a new bootable DVD/USB with to use to install Windows 7 with instead. Just use your Windows 7 product key to activate as usual.

Brink I thought when you update to windows 8 your previous key then becomes the soul ownership of Microsoft and therefore you cannot use it?

It was my understanding that if you are using W8 then tou cannot be using W7 product key at the same time. So if you went back to 7 and were not running 8 you were fine. It comes down to you can't use both at the same time.

I could be wrong, but that is how I took it. I have reinstalled 7 once before and had no issues with the key at all going back and forth. I have not tried to run both on different systems though.....

Hello Tarka Dal,

Nope. You are just not suppose to have the previous key from say Windows 7 activated/installed while you have the Windows 8 upgrade activated. If you uninstall Windows 8, then you are free to use the key from Windows 7 again.

They just don't want you using both at the same time as per the EULA for the upgrade.
