OS Drive showing up as a "Removable" Device

Hi guys,

I've been trying to resolve this issue since I set up my new system a couple of weeks ago and so far have not been able to find any good leads as to how this happened or how to fix it.

The "it" is that my C: is showing up as a removable device in the windows task bar. I've never seen this before. I have updated all system drivers, I have updated the BIOS and I have checked all BIOS settings - nothing helps.

I have checked Intel Rapid Storage and it doesn't list the drive, which is odd. It does list my RAID1 that I have set up. The OS drive is a 120 GB Corsair Force GT SATA III and the RAID drives are a pair of WD 1 TB HDDs.

I attached pics. The shot of the Intel Rapid Storage Manager shows the RAID drives, which are correctly in Ports 0 and 1. However, it shows the rest of the ports as "empty." Two of the "empty" ports are connected to the Corsair SSD and the DVD drive but this is not represented.

When I try to use Intel Rapid Storage and hit the "rescan" command to check for new drives the system freezes. Same thing when I try "Scan for New Hardware" in the Device Manager.

Any ideas?

Thanks
G

I wouldn't worry too much about it, I think this is a driver weirdity, as I've seen hard drives be detected by Windows (7) as a removable drive.
