Error: Windows PE cannot start because the actual...

    I'm new to this forums.

I'm trying to upgrade my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit to Windows 8 Pro. I get this error message after the first reboot.

If someone could help me that would be much appreciated

The error message tells something went wrong during upgrade.
The X drive is usually mapped to installation/repair media (DVD/USB).

You should restart from disk (nothing like USB,CD,DVD attached) and see what options are offered.
    1. Continue with installation
    2. Rollback installation
    3. other option ?

and decide what you want to do next.

If unsure just post back what happens when you boot from disk:
    - do you have boot menu ?
    - any option choices what to do next ?
    and so on.

Have your product key handy. You can find it in your online order information, in the confirmation email for your purchase, or on the packaging. The product key will look something like this:

Make a backup of everything you want to keep. Save it somewhere you can get to it later, like an external drive or a DVD.

Always better to do a clean install.

I can convert my .png images to 256x256px icons with 32-bit depth but they end up being distorted with crappy edges when I apply...
