Installing Windows 8 on UEFI to RevoDrive X2 issue

    Hey everyone,

Have any of you successfully installed Windows 8 with UEFI on a RevoDrive X2 (PCI-E express card)?

    Any suggestions?

It starts the installation just fine for the RevoDrive X2 after loading it's drivers, but on first restart it...:

    • No boot drive found.
    • Manually select to boot from the RevoDrive from the boot menu (F11), and it just restarts the installation again from scratch.

It installs and runs just fine with legacy BIOS (MBR) for the RevoDrive X2.

It also installs and runs just fine with UEFI on an internal SATA2 HDD.

    Things I've done:

    • Bootable Windows 8 USB formatted as FAT32 w/EFI folder in it
    • Enabled wake on PCI-E/PCM in UEFI
    • Booting from USB from boot menu (F11) and not set to always boot from USB.

Sound like a test, I done with old P4 with no Sata ports with Windows 8 DP.
Used a Raid card for Sata, load drivers in setup, started install, at first reboot, went to a reboot loop.

It's not looking good for UEFI and PCI-E cards.

That what I was thinking as well, but it would still be faster to still just use the PCI-E with legacy BIOS than a HDD with UEFI.

I may get a new SSD to use with UEFI since the newer ones have the same read/write speeds. The only one I got left is an old 50 GB OCZ Vertex 2.

Just a quick thought since I do not have any drives like that, is my system has a setting for booting PCIe OpRoms. You might check yours for such a thing. Mine (ASUS) is under the CSM (Compatibility Support Module) in the Boot section.

But if secure boot is involved, it might also be interfering.

When you restart where it tells you to, does a Boot Manager show up for the drive? Have you tried removing the install media?

The Download makes a good USB flash drive for UEFI. The .iso file is not UEFI compatible. A hard copy DVD from Microsoft does boot into UEFI....just some info in case...
