New Install Second Physical Hard Drive Not Visible

Just installed Windows 8. I have a second physical hard drive that I ensured was plugged in correctly. Now it is not showing up. What did I do wrong and/or how can I fix this. Thanks.

Double check you cables and connections. Does it show up in the BIOS? If it's not being detected by windows it's likely not being detected by the motherboard. IDE or SATA?

Also, please type diskmgmt.msc in a run command and post a screen shot.

Can you post a screen shot of Disk management from the other OS?

We have had few a PC's play up when Windows 8 is installed to a Logical drive.

Try installing to a Primary Partition.

Can I delete that logical drive and then create a partition without it being logical?

Last time I installed W8, it was not as a logical drive and it worked with no problem.

As you have delete the HP Recovery partition & install Windows 8, making the HP boot tools unusable.

You can delete Hp Tool partition & the Logical drive, to make one Primary Partition.

Or a Primary Partition on other HD Drive.

SOLVED: I changed the partition label from Logic to Primary with Easeus Partition Master and I am now installing Windows 7. You can delete this thread if you wish. My old laptop died. It had Windows 8 (upgrade only) over Windows 7. I purchased a new laptop, but also sent the old broken one...

Win8 Install on New Hard Drive in Installation & Setup
Today I installed a new hard drive on my laptop. The drive was unformated, thought Win8 would walk me through formatting. Instead it formatted the hard drive automatically, pleasant surprise.
