Added a new 3TB drive for Windows 8 dual, boot format help

I added a new drive so that I could dual boot win7 (installed on Drive 0) and Win8 (to be installed on Drive 1, the 3TB one).

When I go to disk management in Windows 7, it sees the disk and wants to know if I want it partitioned and formatted as MBR or GPT....

What do I want for its purpose?? Or...can I simply leave it as is and hope that the new custom install of windows 8 does it for me?

If you want the full 3tb for DATA, set hd drive to GPT.

If you want to install Windows 8 x64 on the HD Drive, you will need a uEFI BIOS & HD Drive set to GPT, Also your Windows 7 HD Drive.

I dont have a mobo that supports that. I would like to utilize thew hole 3tb drive as a MBR and be able to boot to it. Can I break it into two partitions as MBR and go that route?

I have a gigabyte ga-x58a-ud3r mobo. I see the latest drivers say it now supports 3TB plus drives, but I dont know if that means it is uefi and will boot to it.

Master boot record - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Since block addresses and sizes are stored in the partition table of an MBR using 32 bits, the maximum size of a partition and the maximum start address using drives that have 512-byte sectors (actual or emulated) cannot exceed 2 TiB−512 bytes (2,199,023,255,040 bytes or 4,294,967,295 (232−1) sectors 512 (29) bytes per sector). Alleviating this capacity limitation was one of the prime motivations for the development of the GUID partition table (GPT).

Support for Disk Drives Beyond 2.2 TeraBytes (TB) and 4K Advanced Format Sectors

Windows systems with Legacy BIOS and MBR boot drives are limited to 2.2TB partitions

Windows 8, 64-bit. Used to run Win 7 on our main drive, and used a second one for storage (mainly games), however something happened, making us unable to boot. So we decided to upgrade to Windows 8, which we put on our secondary drive, and that's now the main one (boots from here, is Disk 0)....

Have an issue... Installed Windows 8 first, then installed Win XP to a second partition on the same disk. In windows 8, the XP partition is seen as D: If I boot to XP, XP sees itself as I: it sees the windows 8 partition as C: and that is what I want, is C: being win 8 and XP being D: Is there...
Hi guys, I've got a problem with my dual boot setup: I've installed win8, selected an empty partition, booted it, everything peachy. The only surprising thing was that driver letters where switched: my windows 7 install and data was now in D: drive and windows 8 install appropiated C:...
