I was posting a collage of pictures, but unfortunately, the message got deleted due to copyright violation. I only uploaded it to a 3-rd party web site because i wasn't able to attach it here within the message and indeed I planned to remove it right away as soon as someone confirms that the listed procedure is correct. Now I don't know if I understood it right. Does one need to use all three tutorials, respectively their parts, to complete Win7 dual-boot installation on Win8 pre-installed machine? I find it hard to form the question so you know what I am asking for, the picture would make it easier, but we'll surely manage with words only too.

    Welcome to EightForums.

YES, you will need to work with the two tutorial .

    Note   Note

When dual booting with Windows 8 Preinstalled & Windows 7

Follow Step one to five in this tutorial:
Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7

    warning   Warning
If you shrink C: before deleting the OEM Recovery partition, the C: & the new partition may be converted to Dynamic partitions.
You DO NOT WHAT Dynamic partitions.

Than follow this tutorial: (installing in uEFI mode.)

Thank you for welcoming me, I don't understand the warning, tho. What does "shink" mean? Is it perhaps a typo?

I'm currently trying to instal Win7 in EFI mode. I've disabled Secure boot, enabled CSM. When I enable CSM, Fast Boot will disable automatically and under CSM I have another option 'Launch PXE OpRom' which I'm not sure what to do with. I left it Disabled for now. Then when I'm trying to install Win7, I restart the computer, start hitting Esc, which gets me to the One-time Boot menu but when I choose [EFI] <the name of the drive where Win7 EFI bootable DVD is> it boots to Win8 anyways.

EDIT: It's solved. I just didn't 'press any key to continue..' fast enough. Sorry for the lame mistake!

    Windows 8 & Windows 7 Dual Boot

Did you get your Dual boot going?

Ive installed them both ways, Win 7 then Win 8 , and Win 8 then Win 7..

Its not complicated at all, not in the least...

You do need a different partition to install the OS though.

As for boot order you can change that from msconfig from either OS at anytime.

What I do, in this situation, is make an image (including the MBR, if the option is there) of windows 8. You can use Acronis, recommended, or a free one such as Macrium to make the image. I then install Windows 7 in a prepared partition and restore the original Windows 8 image. Job done.

Doing the above on a OEM Pre-installed Windows 8,
If the BIOS is not set to suit Windows 7 x64 UEFI mode, on booting the DVD/USB, you receive a Secure Boot Violation.

    You may also need to

Make sure CSM is ENABLED, & set to UEFI boot.

    enable Boot Menu.

    enable BIOS password.

This may be the reason why people are having issues with windows 8.. The UEFI is too involved.. Microsoft is starting to look like Apple more and more each day...
