Win 8 runs install.. Then black screen with blue logo

Bought windows 8 upgrade, and ran it on Windows 7, I made an ISO boot CD and USB jic.. I used the upgrade assistant setup, and it went through the install, rebooted and came to a black screen with the blue tile logo, and and stayed there for hours..

Formatted hard drive, and attempted to boot clean windows 8 install and it does not load or install, it goes straight to this same logo screen! Very frustrating!

Then I reinstalled windows 7 and tried to upgrade again using the USB I made and auto run, but same issue.

Please help! I this is just so frustrating.

Theog, why will doing it this way include UEFI support but not if you create a .iso during the download process? If this is true doesn't that invalidate the whole idea or creating install media for a later installation?

I've not had a UEFI system yet so am not familiar with it so trying to understand what is happening.

    Thanks

my thoughts exactly, and as you eluded to, nothing changed

i followed those steps and it still leaves me at the blank screen, I have done several HDD formats and reloads of Win 7, I have no idea what the issue is. Again, extremely frustrating to have my desktop out of service.

The MS Tool does not work correctly.

Windows 8 Pro Upgrade may not support UEFI.

If you have a desktop/Tower, try changing the Video Card.

Video card is on board with motherboard, perhaps I could switch from HDMI to RGB during install.

Also I am unable to see that link you posted about the MS Tool not working...
