Happened to me too, right after the first forced reboot during installation. Thank goodness I made an image of my Windows 7 install before trying to install Windows 8. I never did try an upgrade either, this happened doing a fresh install. You would think if Windows 7 installs perfectly fine on a system, Windows 8 would too.... I guess not.

Eagerly waiting for Windows 9.... LOL

I remove the overclock when installing, and set the system back to stock specifications. Even if it is overclocked, it shouldn't matter really. I've been running this system overclocked since I got it, and it passes every stress testing suite on the planet. Windows 7 installs fine even when the system is overclocked.

Well I have a different opinions, I never install an OS on a OC system, this is a very basic thing to do. Do you have USB things connected to the PC.

Like I said, I tried installing without the system overclocked. I'm going to try again later today as I have updated the motherboard's BIOS, we'll see if that helps. The only USB device hooked to the system is the wireless receiver for the Microsoft keyboard and mouse. I guess I could try a wired USB mouse and keyboard when I try again.

it should work with the wireless one, but it will not be bad to try with a wired one
