Skype on Windows 8

After I installed Win 8, I tried to install Skype, I was directed to the Microsoft Shop page where I downloaded Skype and attempted to install it, It went through the motions and said Skype is being installed then it came up with the message that Skype cannot be installed.
Now when I go back to the Microsoft Shop page to try and install it again, I get the message, (You own Skype)
And it will not even allow me to try and install it. ????

I have found a fix for this, I downloaded Skype on my laptop and used that file to install it on my Win 8 desktop, it is not Skype for Win 8 though, but it works fine so who cares?

What then is the problem?

The second part of my post was edited after I posted I found that I could install a previous version of Skype onto Win 8.
