I am getting ready to do the Windows 8 Pro 64 bit install on my P5Q Pro Turbo C2Duo desktop. I am downloading all the newest drivers and picking out the programs I will not be using ran the advisor which told me what I already guess would be issues. I usually disable the hidden Full Administrator account but i think this time I am not going to go that route. I have been running W8Pro on Laptop since it was released back in August with no issues art all, runs very fast and stable, only problem is cannot use my Symantec End Point 11.0.5.0 I have used for years, so have settled for the built in security which is doing a good job. I have the keys to enable the Media Center since I have tuner in the desktop and i also run Media Center in the dv9230us Laptop with no issues. If any one has any tips let me no, and yes this will be clean install.

I wouldn't recommend the built-in Admin account as a daily driver as it can't run modern/metro apps, but if all it's going to be is an HTPC it should be fine. However, given the HTPC stuff will run fine as a limited user account and get the additional sandboxing and security, I'm not sure there's really a need to run as admin either. Just my thoughts, virtually out loud ;).

Thanks for the info wonder why the disabled Admin account will cause issues with the Metro apps etc, I have always run full Admin account in the past in Windows 7 64 bit. Getting every thing ready to do clean install with local account not MS account. I have enough drives to pull my Windows 7 drive and keep just in case of any issues. I am a little sad to see this install go been up and running since 2009 and pretty found of the system, but ha it will be like getting a new computer since i just got a new 23 inch full hd monitor. Thanks.

The built-in Admin account doesn't have UAC capabilities (for a reason - it's the *admin* account), and modern/metro apps REQUIRE user account control to sandbox the modern applications. Thus, without the sandbox, modern applications will not run.
