Are you trying to load XP 32 bit or Windows 8 32 bit? I'm confused.

Also I noticed this morning I can not get to safe mode. I was able to yesterday. If I can't get windows 8 to load I'm considering wiping the SSD. And getting a new laptop. Any suggestions on how to wipe XP from the SSDS. I couldnt get DBAN boot and nuke to load from CD. So I'm not sure of my other options. Sledgehammer?

Do I copy from the DVD to the USB? Also I have XP, that tutorial is for windows 7. I have tried to boot from USB and my system says it is not available, so I'm not sure this will help. Any thoughts.

2004. I am seriously considering getting a new laptop. I first thought I could upgrade to winows 8 to help remove a keylogger. After reading the tutorials on the seven forums and using diskpart I was hopeful. Now I've learned that XP will not allow diskpart to run on the main HD. I used it on the backup and it worked fine. Now seeing all the other issues I'm having I may need to move on to a new computer. Just trying to save some cash at the moment. I even tried to rund DBAN to wipe the HD and numerous issues doing that. But one thing at a time. Is it logical to upgrade to windows 8 on this system?

Do you have a PCI-E x16 slot?

@Theog...

I just checked the specs for the Dell 370, and apparently it does have PCI-e x16.

Could the old Intel 925X chipset be an issue with Win 8? I believe some earlier
Intel chipsets won't work.

I can't see anything obvious in the specs otherwise....

Or too old, or both....Nvidia Quadro @ 64 or 128MB, apparently, or
a 128MB ATI V3100, unless he has added a card at a later stage.
