I want to do a Clean All install on my SSD.

My current OS is XP and I have a Speed Demon SSD with a Norton Ghost back up. I want to do a clean all install, mainly to remove a vicious keylogger installed by ex wife. I had read on the windows 7 forums on using diskpart to do a clean all install. Can someone please direct me to the proper tutorial how to do a clean all install with Windows 8? I don't want to save any info on my current drive, for fear of this keylogger being hidden in some file. BTW it's supposedly blocked using Zemana antikeylogger software, but I'm still leary. I have purchased Windows 8 pro, so I will be installing using a disk. Thanks for any help.

If u have the upgrade version u can't do clean installs. I believe u want to format ur ssd, and if that is the case after formatting u'll need to have a valid OS(ur xp, a 32bit os?) before using the win8 upgrade disc. If u use the win8 disc directly it'll not activate after installation and u will have to try ur luck by doing the phone activation method, tell them u had to format the ssd as it had virus.

As for a tut to use diskpart, i'm not sure..maybe someone will come by and give u a link.

    Edit:
U can format the partition from within the setup and not prior to it.

You can do a clean install with an upgrade. I just did it and it went great. But to do it you have to boot from media. Either download the iso from M$ or buy the upgrade with media. Boot and choose custom install, format and reallocate your ssd and enjoy.

I bought an upgrade and during the istallation I did have to use my upgrade key I bought. I would not recommend doing the normal upgrade rout. Just buy the upgrade for $40 just for the key then download Win 8 iso burn to dvd and do fresh install.

When you say download Win 8 ISO, is that the one that "comes" with the upgrade package when you purchase it?

When I bought windows 8 pro the salesman said it would do a clean install. I do not believe its the upgrade version. Not sure on the difference. I think I will try a utilitie to wipe the ssd's clean.

Yes, you will be given 3 options, one of them is "Create media to install latter"(2nd option), click that radio button, iso image will be downloaded, you can use any burning program like imgburn to burn a DVD.

Just a heads up, according to MS
Note that if you're upgrading from a DVD, you must have Windows running on your PC when you begin the upgrade. If you'd like to reformat your hard drive, you can do so as long as you start your PC from media and then format your hard drive from within the setup experience for installing Windows, and not prior to it.
I'm not too sure about using diskpart or other utilities to format.

ok thats all goods then. And if I cant get windows 8 to install on a new ssd, then I will just reinstall windows 7 onto it, activate it, and then upgrade to windows 8
