    Ok, what version to buy?

    Hello,

so I went online to get my dose of WIN8, and now I am lost...

I have the 90 Day trail on my PC and Netbook, but every option I can find is the "upgrade" from Win7? So what are people supposed to do whent they hava:

    a. the 90 day trail installied
    b. a custom build PC with no preinstalled OS

Hope anyone can shed some light on that, since I have no clue right now.

    thx
    armin

    Depends on your conscience....

If you can still find RP ISO, install that, then upgrade. Worked for me. (I do have 3x XP licences and 2 x Vista not being used anymore....!)

I didn't need to input a key. It upgraded RP to Win 8 Pro. Which trial are you using? i.e. did you need to input a key when installing that?

I am using the W8 Enterprise 90 Day trail version, no it did not ask for a serial when I installed it.

There is no full version, just the oem system builder's copy which is available on newegg and amazon, this is the legal way of doing clean installs.

Btw as told it can be upgraded from a trial win7 or win8 RP.

    So only OEM versions?
This means you can't have an hardware upgrade on your PC at home then if you want to keep it legal (or even a hardware replacement if something went belly up) without buying a new OEM version.

I know for certain that the OEM System Builder version supports hardware changes provided it's installed on only one system at a time.
I'm not sure if it is the same for the upgrade, will be glad if someone can clarify that part.

The newer OEM/System Builder license is applicable for home hobbyists, you can upgrade hardware and you can move it to a different machine, as long as it's removed from the first machine.

It's $100 for WIndows 8 and $140 for WIndows 8 Pro. Available via Amazon and NewEgg for sure at this time.
