I am currently running Windows XP and am trying to install Windows 8 Pro upgrade which i have recieved the DVD yesterday problem is when it checks my system i then get the message Change the folder or file name of C:\ProgramData on drive C:
Easier said than done it is a folder that won't allow itself to be renamed!!
I assume I've chucked £50 down the drain cheers Microsoft

I got the same message for an XP to W8 upgrade too. You don't need to rename the ProgramData folder on your existing system, only to type another name which will be used by W8. But that was for the Release preview version.

If you used the ESD thing - it gives you the option to create installation media to use later - that is an iso file.

You can burn it to dvd , boot it up and do a clean install.

If you are on XP , you might need something to burn it with ( unless the ESD offers to do that for xp users )- try this freebie BurnCDCC TeraByte Unlimited :: Downloads :: Free Software :: Hard Drive Management
