Short version: what's the best way to restore the windows.old file after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro? Reason? I downloaded and installed 8 Pro with no problems. All files and settings transferred perfectly. However the live tiles would not work, including windows store. After reviewing forums and support sites, and verifying resolution size, active windows account, etc, one forum thread recommended a Refresh. I thought a refresh kept all files and settings, but it moved all original programs to a windows.old file. It did keep docs and settings, but no programs files. The good news is live tiles works now.. I want to keep windows 8, so how do I properly restore all the windows.old files without corrupting anything? Thanks.
