So, downloaded the win8 pro offer, and burned a dvd from the iso.
upgrade assistant said I had to uninstall intel usb 3.0 controller, and Intel pro set for Bluetooth, which I did..

Ran the installer locally, and, appeared to install, even though it hung up at 90% for a long time; eventually rebooted, and I got the message "Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer, restart the installation"..
So, I thought maybe I should try it from the dvd I burned; same thing happened, with the same message after it completed..
I have a NEW Dell XPS one 27, that I know is compatible with win 8
The only thing I can think of, is that this machine has a dual hd setup; a small super fast ssd hd for "fast booting", and then the convention 2tb hard drive, and it is set up as a raid..

I have an email in to dell tech support, so hopefully I hear back from them, but does anyone have any suggestions until then?

The only other thing I can think of is the the upgrade assistant had also told me that my firmware didnt support Secure Boot, and I couldnt use this feature on Win 8, but I doubt that would keep the install from completeling, and considering this pc is 3 weeks old, I cant believe it wouldnt have the correct firmware, if that even matters..

thanks so much if you have any ideas!
