Hello

I am trying to upgrade from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 8.

I have bought the program and I am using the
Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant to load the program.

However, once it downloads and get to 100% all I get is Access Denied and then download fail.

I have looked on the net for an answer but so far, I have not found anything of any use to help. I did try turning off the antivirus but this made no difference.

Has anybody here managed to get past this problem.

Thanks

Martin

Did you run the program as administrator? Right click the programs .exe, and click compatibility. Then, tick run this program as administrator at the bottom.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

I will try that when I get back home, never thought to try that as I am the only user on the laptop, but I will give it a go.

I will post how I get on later.

Hi

I have just tried another download with this time right clicking to load as an administrator but I get the same response, Access Denied.

I only want to upgrade and do not want to do a complete reinstall, so I will have a few more goes if not, I may try and get a refund, if I can.

or
Try a clean install.

You can make the ISO from exe.

Check this post by BillWindows.

You should have an upgrade file on your desktop, click on that, it asks some questions and one of them is do you want to install later say yes, then another question do you want to create an ISO file just say yes, when it has created the ISO file, right click on it to burn it to a DVD.
Then boot from that to completely wipe your disk and reformat, make sure you have your key for when you start the installation. If you have a Windows Live account use that. Make sure you feel comfortable doing this and have anything you need backed up, this worked for me, I hope it works for you.

If you need to redownload, go to your email from Windows Strore, download from the link.

It would be much better if they made the .iso available for d/l. Then we wouldn't be getting these issues.

Gives MS less control if they do it that way - so tough luck for the customer.
