Windows 8 Release Preview runs slowly on notebook

    Hi!

I have a problem with my notebook. It's an Acer Aspire 7530.

Windows 8 Consumer Preview ran without any problems; the drivers needed (especially for the graphics card) were downloaded automatically.

Now I installed Windows 8 Release Preview, but Windows Update does not install the graphics card driver, thus it runs really slowly and is unusable :/ Installing the drivers manually won't do a thing (even if the installer exits without problems). Even re-installing the whole OS (means formatting the partition and perform a clean install) didn't work.

Maybe some of you can help me!

The graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce 9600 M GS.

One more information: It says, the driver used for the screen is the standard "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter", although the driver for the graphics card is installed.

Thank you very much in advance!

    64-bit Windows 10

Hello Teha, and welcome to Eight Forums.

The 304.79 beta NIVIDIA drivers work well for me in Windows 8 for the same graphics chip. You might give them a try to see if they will for you as well.

Latest NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Drivers for Windows 8

    Hope this helps,

Thank you for your fast answer! I tried to install the drivers, but it aborts with the following error message (it's German, but I translate it: "The graphics driver couldn't find any compatible graphics hardware".

Do you know, what I can do then?

Did you download the same 32-bit or 64-bit NVIDIA driver for your 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 8?

    32-bit:

    64-bit:

Thanks again for your answer! I found that 64 bit driver myself and installed it, but too bad it couldn't fix the problem too

Is there more I can do?

5510We have info that Windows 8 Release Candidate will be called "Release Preview" and that will be launched sometime in late May or early June. But we must say that all these are just rumors. 5509 Source: winunleaked
