1600x900 Not Working On Lenovo L530 (Screen Scrambled)

Hello Everyone,

This is a problem I recently noticed with my Lenovo Thinkpad L530 after upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After a couple weeks, the 1600x900 resolution (which is the native resolution of the screen) stopped working properly, as the screen garbles and displays incorrect colours and lines across the screen. As a temporary fix, I removed all of the drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller and for a brief time, the resolution was working. Trying different drivers didn't help as the problem appeared again. I ended up using the 1440x900 resolution and that worked for the most part. However, connecting the laptop to an external monitor works fine.

After another couple weeks, that lower resolution also was acting up so I decided to downgrade to 8.1 since I never saw that problem there. I did a clean install on the machine and immediately saw the problem again. I installed the 8.1 Intel HD 4000 driver from the Lenovo Support Page and the Lenovo Monitor file and this combination partly solved the problem; the 1600x900 resolution still garbles but the 1440x900 resolution appears to be working so far.

Given that I am using a different OS, I am not sure if it is strictly software related or if there is something wrong with the hardware itself. Using custom resolutions above 1440x900 also failed to resolve the problem. What is odd is that the Lenovo startup screen prior to loading the OS and the Windows UAC prompt screen aren't garbled.

I would appreciate any advice on this matter as it has confused me for the past couple of months.
