I have a Sapphire 7850 2GB card. I decided to move on from 14.12 drivers, but i always get the error message after restarting when I install the drivers. This error message : imgur.com/9qJKUoR

I get rid of the previous driver, by uninstalling and then going safe mode and using DDU. I tried multiple drivers, but even 14.12 doesnt want to work anymore. The slightly older drivers at the end even gives some warnings like this one: imgur.com/WrDPM53. The only reason my comp runs properly, because restore points exist.

I tried installing driver without CCC and the additional things, but that didnt help. The only thing that I didnt tried yet is fresh Windows install ( I have 8.1 now ). Thats not an option, because if that doesnt work, I pretty much have to buy a card, but since my CPU ( Phenom II X4 950BE ) barely supports this one I would have to upgrade the whole comp.

The one thing i can do now is to install the recommended Windows updates, because I saw that upcoming a lot.

Edit

I tried installing 15.12, 14.12, , 15.11.1 and probably a few others that popped up when the system asked if i want to update at startup.

As a sidenote updating via catalyst which pops at startup doesnt work also, it doesnt do anything, leaves the same driver up.

Srange, those should be compatible with your HD 7850.
If you had a HD 7000 - HD7600 you must use a legacy driver.

There is a AMD Clean Uninstall Utility , maybe this will clear all left behind files and driver. AMD Clean Uninstall Utility

It looks that you are not the only one with this problem. See this post on the amd forum https://community.amd.com/thread/193645

It seems that latest driver that will work is 15.7.1

I also found this on the amdforum before installing AMDdriver
To perform a 'clean install' of AMD graphics drivers:

Note: To be on the safe side, create a system restore point before doing any of this.
1. IMPORTANT: All Windows Updates should be current, including the 'optional/suggested' updates (except for graphics drivers)
2. IMPORTANT: Disable all anti-virus/ad blockers/anti-malware/ anti-anything before trying to install
3. IMPORTANT: Netframework is required and must be the latest version. (from Windows Update)

Sadly, i went through those steps, but it didnt work :/, but just to be sure here is the process how i tried to do it:

I installed every Windows update, except KB 3004394 ( i honestly dont know how you guys can tell what these updates do, because i had to dig very deep to find out this is a graphics driver ). I used AMD Clean Uninstall Utility, then reboot. Turn off anti-virus software, then Install drivers. - Just a thought here, before restarting after intsalling, the resolution seems fine, didnt try to play games or anything like that, but almost looks good, then again i didnt test - Then reboot and same error.

I tried 15.12 again, same problems. Tried 15.7.1 same problems, but here is the reportlog during installation, where the lastline translates to: "Driver Installation: The given parameter is invalid"

Now I went to a restore point before Windows Updates. As a sidenote, after Windows update, when booting, between the Windows logo loading screen and login screen, there is now a 5 seconds of black screen.

The only thing that very well could be a problem is that: Ever since I use Windows 8.1, i feel like i dont have install anything for motherboard, except audio, like: Network Adapter, USB driver,- and whats important to us now :- display driver or chipset driver.

I've seen on one of the threads that after removing everything i should install the display driver and chipset and then the graphics driver and that might help. Maybe I should give it a try? If yes, should i install Windows Update or seach somewhere only for the Netframeworks?

The installation sequence of the drivers is important for the system efficiency.
It is recommended to install the driver for the motherboard chipset first.

You can refer to the suggestion sequence below:
1. Operation System.
2. The driver for the motherboard chipset.
3. Other drivers(such as Audio, LAN, Graphic).
4. The latest service pack for the Operation System.

Do you have any exlamation Marks in your Device Manager.
If yes, could you put a screenshot.

After many other unsuccesful tries, i checked out my motherboards site and actually there is no chipset or driver avaible for Windows 8 or 8.1.

Many people said it before that i should not update my display driver from Windows Update, but it probably happened long ago and i dont find it among the previous installed updates. How do i get rid of it then?

I could revert the driver in device manager, but that leaves something up and DDU or the AMD tool handles it anyway. Do i have to remove my graphics card from device manager?

I'm at my wits end, but i would rather not risk a fresh Windows install, because again I cant clone my system. Since I cant ( Well maybe I can but i doubt i could clone it to the same partition, which again would be wiped during fresh install ) and if that fails i essentially have to buy a entirely new computer.

Okay i found the solution. Maybe my onboard graphics was the sole purpose, maybe not, but here is the process for anyone wandering here:

- I had a corruption ( Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB ), which can be detected by and repaired on this site . If you the corruption exists, then on this very same site ( open a new topic, dont write to this one ), you can ask around how to get rid of it.

- Avoid installing Windows Update
KB3004394 at all costs. If its installed get rid of it.

- Disable onboard graphics cards ( this was the ultimate solution for me / meaning it was the last thing i fixed )

- You need the latest Net Frameworks, possibly from Windows Update

- Use DDU in safe mode to get rid of the last driver, then reboot into to normal mode and disable any anti virus program + firewall while you install the driver
