Windows 8.1 does not recognize Nvida Card, only MBDA

I have a laptop that I recently clean installed Windows 8.1 on, as it was running an expired Windows 10 preview edition. Once it was booted back up, my fiance installed and ran Terraria on it, and asked me why it was running so slow now. I looked around a little, and eventually realized that the only video card the laptop is currently recognizing is the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. I don't remember what Nvida card this is, as the laptop is my brother's old laptop from years ago that has been passed around the family until it has finally reached my fiance so she would have a Windows machine to play games on. Is there any universal Nvida driver I could install that would work, or some other fix I'm not thinking of?

Windows 8.1 does have a pretty good library of drivers, for Vid, Sound and LAN.
But they can't possibly have a driver for every vid card made over the last ten years.

Since you can't just plug in a new Video card, to a Laptop, the best solution would be a new laptop.

Or go to the Web Site of the Laptops manufacturer and see if they have a driver pack for that old Laptop.

Good Luck! And, Happy Holidays
