    @Rosterbyte

What display drivers (and versions) do you have in Device Manager? Have you tried upgrading with the AMD Catalyst 12.10 or 12.11 Beta4? (please see the end of first post for links, more info)

    So:

I install the official HP Drivers, and then the AMD 12.11 beta 4 drivers. Now i can open the Catalyst Control Center, but i don't have the option to switch the graphic cards like Windows 7. When i go to hardware in windows'control panel, AMD card is displayed "AMD 7400M" and is off, but i have the 6470M! I try to activate, but when i do this nothing appen.

Why is this happening to me?

What do you mean by "off"?

Also, what driver version does your Intel card have? What are the Hardware IDs of your AMD card?

The fastest way to help you, is if you post screenshots (or type the actual info in a new message) like the 3 pics I posted here, on Post #46.

Without that, my best guess is that you don't have the AMD-signed Intel drivers installed, like the ones included in Leshcat's UnifL or HP's (Nov 2011) Windows 7 drivers. Note: AFAIK, the current AMD Catalyst drivers will require AMD-signed (not from Intel Download Center) Intel HD Graphics 9.10.17.2792 or higher to function properly.

So, this is the situation with the HP offical drivers installed in Windows 7:

    Right-click on desktop

Switchable graphics on catalyst control center

    Device manager

This is the situation with the HP offical drivers installed in Windows 8:

    Right-click on desktop

    Ati Technologies's Empty folder

    Device manager

    Amd card don't work

If I install the beta drivers AMD_Catalyst_12.11_Beta4 I can access at the CCC

but i have no option of Switchable graphics like in Windows 7

and this is the situation in Device manager after 12.11 beta

I hope that this bug can be soled. Thanks a lot aphastar for you support!

I have your same problem, my graphic card is different (is radeon hd 6700m)... have any suggestion for me? does the driver you downloaded also works for my graphic card? I took a look to the website you linked but I cannot understand what I have to download.

Rosterbyte you are italian? se sei italiano: io ho il tuo stesso identico problema, non capisco cosa devo scaricare sul sito che hai linkato... molto caotico, io ho una 6700M...

Basically, the situation is as follows:

Intel HD Graphics drivers from the Intel Download Center will NOT enable AMD Switchable Graphics or AMD Enduro, as they are not compatible with the AMD Reference Drivers (AMD Catalyst 12.10 or 12.11 Beta) for use with Switchable Graphics/Enduro - they work fine for systems with Intel HD Graphics ONLY (as they are Intel-signed). Confirmed: Intel's official position and FAQs on Switchable Graphics and Microsoft Windows 8 support (more readable DOC version).

In short, the AMD Reference drivers require an AMD-signed Intel HD Graphics Driver to work. As the Intel drivers work for Intel HD Graphics ONLY (i.e. they are NOT Switchable Graphics or Enduro-compatible, and) they will disable the AMD parts - Code 43 in Device Manager, like Rosterbyte experienced initially.

The HP drivers are AMD-signed, do not require any other drivers, and WILL WORK, but are based on older versions than the latest Intel or AMD separate drivers.

The AMD Reference drivers will upgrade the HP-AMD ones (but only AMD driver part).

Long story short, download the latest HP Windows 8 drivers (by finding your model on 24/7 Online support for HP's Home and Home Office Products | HP Support, or using the NotebookReview: HP Drivers and Software Forum). Alternatively, you could use the latest Leshcat driver (see first post for instructions). If you want the latest AMD versions, then proceed to upgrade them after using the AMD Catalyst 12.10 and/or AMD Catalyst 12.11 Beta releases. To get the best of both worlds, mix and match like Rosterbyte did above but only if you know what you are doing.

To get Intel Wireless Display working on Windows 8, see my post here.

P.S. I am currently on Windows 8 (Build 9200) with the following HP driver for Win8 64-bit: AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver Haven't gotten a chance to experiment yet.

My problem is very similar to Rosterbyte's.

I have an hp dv6t-quad edition with Radeon HD 7690M. I upgraded to Windows 8 2 days ago, at first I was getting a message after every boot saying that ATI Catalyst Control Center needed to be re-installed. Obviously HP didn't provide new drivers for the graphics card, though I did upgrade the BIOS.

Anyways I tried uninstalling Catalyst Control Center and installing it again, tried re-installing, the same old drivers, kept getting the same message. Finally I installed the new 12.11(October 23 driver) beta drivers from AMD, now I am able to open CCC but there aren't any options for the graphics card.

On top of that it seems like Windows 8 doesn't even recognize my graphics card, it says I have an AMD Radeon HD 6700M Series graphics card, again I have the 7690M. Another thing I noticed is that, under the General properties it says this: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

Here are some pictures of my current problem:

Windows 8 doesn't recognize my actual graphics card:

    Intel Card working fine:

    Intel Card driver info:

I can open CCC, but there are no settings to change:

    No switchable graphics:

What do I need to do to fix this issue?

P.S WiDI doesn't work either, but I am mostly concern about the graphics card.
