I'll give it a shot. When I check for BIOS update at HP, says I have latest BIOS. Anything else to do in that regard before I proceed? Don't want to end up with that black screen - then I can't see your valuable posts and get your needed hand - holding. Oh God, did I just say that?
I wouldn't trust that, I already knew I had a BIOS update, but ran the auto check anyway, well the auto check said there were no updates, I went back to my support download page and manual downloaded the new BIOS to install myself.

check on your model driver download page and check in both the W7 and W8 sections.

To add to what HOODY just said, here are some clear steps:

    1. Download HP SoftPaq SP59147.exe (confirmed 99.9% compatible here and here, in your case)
    2. Double-check for BIOS updates by entering your HP model (e.g. HP Pavilion dv7-6c00) at www.hp.com/cposupport
    3. Follow the steps to revert to Win8 (stock) VGA Drivers: Removing Previous Brand/Custom Drivers from Leshcat's Manual.
    4. Double-click SP59147.exe to install.

I don't see a windows 8 section. In the Win 7 there are 2 downloads, version F.29 and version F.23.

    If you're at F.29, you're good.

Well, treezy won't uninstall the drivers. Asks about premium, I went to safe mode, ran it again, it rebooted, and the display adapters are still there. Resolution is low, though. In safe mode, I couldn't get my icons to display. I'm going to enable the AMD and try again...
I'm using my IPad for this...

Acted very strange...I uninstalled the displays per Leshcat instructions. It rebooted and switched by itself to what I believe we're the original drivers:
    RadeonHD6300M (WDDMv1.2.0)
    Intel HD ( WDDM 1.1)

Then it suddenly switched to different drivers :
    AMD 9.2.0.0 Date 9/27/2012
    Intel 8.15.10.2858 Date 10/9/2012

Said to restart, which I did.
Booted to desktop without icons and unable to show program windows...can't see device manager. This is what was happening before I was able to get it to run on the Intel alone.
Now I can't get into safe mode.

    Followed all instructions

Did you run AMD Catalyst Installation Manager (CIM) from Programs and Features and select Express Uninstall[...] before running Driver Fusion?

Also, you can do a Roll Back Driver and/or an Uninstall while selecting the checkbox that says Delete the driver software for this device from Device Manager.

Finally, you should also ensure that there are no AMD folders (as well as the HP SoftPaq for the other AMD driver) on the C:\ drive where the drivers could be reloaded (moving the folders temporarily should work). From the sounds of it, all of the references to the previous drivers were not removed, so it reloaded the previous drivers from the old paths.

Also, at the point where it reloaded the old drivers, you should have been able to install SP59147 without rebooting. Report back if you are still having issues after trying the above.

Note: Programs and Features and Device Manager should also be accessible from Win+X popup window. Also, previous versions of Driver Fusion (like 1.1.1.0, if you can find it for download) did not require/prompt you to buy the Premium Edition.

I just got back in - couldn't get to safe mode, but was offered restore, which I did. I did run CIM before running Driver Fusion. As far as Deleting from Device Manager, are you suggesting this instead of Driver Fusion. I did it after because the Display Adapters were still listed in Device Manager.
At what point should I delete or move any AMD folders - before or after running Driver Fusion. Could I just rename the folders?

Once it loaded the second set of drivers, I couldn't see any program windows or get to the driver to install it. Couldn't even see Device Manager - it would show up on the bottom task bar, but not on the screen.
Where would I find an older version of Driver Fusion? Instructions say to ignore the prompt, which asks if you want to know more about the paid version and gives you a yes/no option. Completely ignore and boot into safe mode or hit No and boot into safe mode?

Sorry for all the questions and trouble. You ar a real trooper. If I can't get this to work ...

Also, without removing the previous drivers, you can tell Windows 8 to explicitly use the SP59147 drivers.

    1. First, extract the SP59147.exe file using UniExtract, WinRAR, or 7Zip.
    2. Go to Device Manager -> Display Adapters -> AMD Radeon HD 6370 -> Driver tab
    3. Follow the Have Disk/Choose method here

Okay, responding to your message above now:

Since you can't get into Device Manager, you may need use the old version of Driver Fusion - http://treexy.com/media/22031/dl/dri...sion_1.1.1.exe

    The process:

    1. Extract SP59147
    2. Run AMD CIM from Programs and Features to remove any AMD driver bits (including in Program Files)
    3. Driver Fusion to remove Intel + AMD bits from C:\Windows\System32 and other cached driver folders
    4. Reboot if necessary
    5. Standard VGA and/or WDDM 1.1 and 1.2 in Device Manager is good
    6. If you still get new drivers from HDD or Windows Update, ignore reboot (doesn't matter if they install at this point)
    7. Run SP59147 to install the HP drivers, then reboot.
    8. If you can't install the drivers from SP59147 for some reason, use Device Manager to Uninstall+Delete the driver software[...] before rebooting, then run step 7 again
