Dynamic Mode Switching automatically switches your graphics depending on your systems performance needs. The switching is done automatically. It's like Turbo Boost o.n your CPU. Your battery life and power consumption is restored to what it was under Windows 7.

Now is the time to upgrade. This fix is from HP. I would apply the fix while running Windows 7 if I were you, which may allow you to keep your Catalyst control Center app working when you upgrade.

And good deal for you MKeezy you liucked out.
I used the Driver Fusion application to completely uninstall all the previous AMD drivers before I applied this fix. You may want to do a clean install before you apply it as well. Download both the new HP drivers from the link provided above the Driver Fusion and "Run" it . Restart your system. Apply the new HP drivers and you should be set to go. Remember, the Catalyst Control Center may not install, but your switchable graphics will be working in it's default Dynamic Mode.

[You may also want to be sure to enable graphics switching to Dynamic mode in your Bois before you begin the update.]
Hmm OK well I have mine set to FIEXD at the moment so only my Radeo card is used while on wall power, it switches auto when I unplug and go to battery. I have that driver fusion, was holding it for when ever. I know you seem to be happy with it on your rig, but I'm still a bit gun shy, I can't afford to hose this thing right now. But I'll D/L it when I get an available high speed connection at my buddy's house and have yet another one available.

Enter your bios setup and switch the setting there from Fixed to Dynamic before you apply the fix. Restart you system and press F10 at POST. Switchable graphics are by default set to Dynamic, so you must have changed that setting somewhere along the way. Switch it back before you being applying the fix.

? So this driver is for both 7 or 8?

Try it... If it doesn't work, simply rollback the changes under Windows 7. Let me know if you have any problems. If it works for you, I'm going to re-install Windows 7 and start over.

It'll work! Besides, once you see that it works you'll be upgrading to Windows 8 anyway. I work in IT as I know you do too, so you know that you can simply rollback any change you make to your system if necessary unless its a permanent Hotfix.

That's not good... The Upgrade process is pretty quick using broadband, but I don't think I would want to have to wait on dialup while going through the process. The good thing about the new upgrade process is that you don't need to install it right away, you can create a installation kit thumb drive and do the actual upgrade later. Hell... You can even install it on a different computer as long as it meets the minimum requirements to run Windows 8.
