    Computer monitor problem

I have a Windows 8.1 Mesh desktop PC with which I use a ViewSonic VX924 LCD display. This was originally supplied to me with a previous PC and, when renewing my PC I kept the original monitor to use with it. It has been fine for the year since I got my new PC, but recently, when turning on the PC and monitor, instead of it starting up very quickly, it flashes on and off quite rapidly, while showing the word Digital in the bottom right corner of the screen. This can happen for as many as 20 times before the Digital word disappears and the monitor remains useable and I can then carry on using my PC. I wonder whether the monitor is now on it's last legs and if I am going to have to renew it fairly shortly. The PC that the monitor was supplied with was purchased in March 2006 and has been used daily ever since. Does anyone have any thoughts about my problem?

Try a new video cable first, or at least make sure it hasn't come lose on one of the connectors.

    Computer monitor problem

I have now changed the two cables from my monitor and ensured that they are both firmly fixed. I'm afraid that it has not had the desired result. I emailed ViewSonic about the problem but they were not able to help - I am considering replacing the monitor and will decide in the next few days. Thanks for your help.

Try that monitor on another PC if you can, even a laptop would do. If it still flickers its definitely a monitor issue. If it works fine you have a PC card or PC issue.

I have managed to borrow a neighbour's monitor and have discovered that it works normally using that one. I therefor feel that my current monitor has given up the ghost and will need to be renewed. Thank you for the help you have given to me.

Sounds like a failing monitor to me. Good move borrowing a monitor to test with.
