Yesterday I was surfing the internet, not doing much of anything, no new updates, no new driver or hardware or software installs, just a slow day checking the forums. Everything seemed normal so I leave the computer to go do something for about an hour. When I come back and pressed the space bar (that is how I wake up my computer) the computer fires up but there is no picture on my monitor. It is dead. So I restart the computer and I can get the BIOS screen on the monitor, and I can navigate through the BIOS screen and on start up I can see the Windows emblem on the monitor, but after that it goes black again. So I dig out my old monitor and hook it up and it works perfectly. My main screen is a Samsung S24D360 hooked up by HDMI to my motherboard, I have no graphics card. My old monitor is a 19 inch HP hooked up by DVI-D. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Intel Graphics driver, I got a different HDMI cable off of my Blu Ray player and tried that, I scanned for malware and everything, but still no signal on my main monitor. I need help to figure this out. Thanks.
I just booted in safe mode and I got identical video in both monitors. I am beginning to think that this is NOT an HDMI handshake problem but it is something else. I just don't know what to do at this point.
So this is what I know.
1. The monitor still does not work.
2. I have used system restore and I restored my system to an earlier date.
3 I have tried 3 different HDMI cables and none seem to work properly on the monitor.
4 I can boot in safe mode and I get a full screen.
5. I can go into BIOS and see the BIOS screen on the monitor.
6. I can see the Windows start up emblem on the screen, but then it goes black after that.
7. Every time I wake up my computer, the HDMI symbol is displayed on my monitor and the blue indicator light comes on.
8 I have uninstalled the monitor and re-installed it in the device management screen.
I can't think of anything else. Please help with some ideas.
Sorry, I missed that you were using the Intel graphics in OP and your specs.
What happens when you do Ctrl+Alt+F6? That should be the default hot keys to bring up the monitor switching screen for Intel. Are you using two monitors and the DVI works but the HDMI is the one giving you problems? If yes does the MB support simultaneous monitors?

Thanks. After all of the hassle and work I put into this it was just the power cord. I unplugged the power cord from the back of the monitor and I plugged it back in and it solved everything. Craziest thing I ever saw, but evidently it was not getting enough electricity to really power the screen, although it was getting some electricity. Go figure.
Well, Murphy's Law holds true once more. Glad you figured it out! :thumb:
If a molded plug one of the wires inside may be broken or nearly broken and jiggling it made connection again. It may act up again. I would feel it once in awhile to see if it feels warm.
