APU Crossfire problems

So I've done my fair share of searching for this and I can't seem to figure it out.

I built a llano based machine earlier this year and it was running great on windows 8 without a hitch. I decided to upgrade my graphics by installing a 6770 so that my APU could run in crossfire with it.

Gaming performance definitely increased.

However, I can't load any windows 8 apps aside from internet explorer. They load, but its extremely artifacted. And not like normal artifacts. These artifacts are 1/4 the size of the screen.

If I disable dual graphics, all is well. For now I just enable dual graphics before I load up a game but its definitely a bit annoying that it does this.

Any guesses as to what I can do?

Hi,

Which video driver version are you running and what's its date?

Update motherboard bios to latest.

Video drivers are whatever the most recent drivers are. The date on AMD's website says March 12th.

I updated the motherboard bios as that was apparently out of date. While it did fix some USB mouse problems in the UEFI bios, it didn't fix the graphics.

this is what I see every time I load a Windows 8 app while running dual graphics.

Being that I requested info on which specific driver you currently have installed and also actually posted the links, the answer to that should be obvious.

Well... I know that AMD has a windows 8 specific driver which is why I ask and that version is 1.2

Did the 12.4 WHQL solve the issue at all?

You have a very specific hardware scenario that is quite rare compared to the general population.

To just about everyone, 1.2 driver is practically the same as 1.1 - which means that any average end user will never even notice any difference. If interested in details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Display_Driver_Model

If you're concerned about making your onboard work well in tandem with add-on card in the Metro environment, it's probably a good idea to forget anything at all about what 1.1 and 1.2 means for now until Windows 8 is released. Another good idea is to test the 12.4 WHQL to see how it reacts under your circumstances.

Problem still exists with the 12.4 drivers. I also lose my ability to turn dual graphics off and on with 12.4 :/

Well, you gave it the good old college try.

Only other thing I could think of at the moment is to install the monitor driver from the manufacturer's site. Then after, check that the resolution is set well for the monitor as intended by the factory. And refresh rate too.

If you changed any Windows settings, set them back.

Other than that, you're probably going to have to wait until AMD releases proper Windows 8 drivers after Windows is released to manufacturer.

Do both of the graphics solutions show as running well in the device manager?

Both show up as working well. I think the problem is just that my setup is rather unique like you put it and I don't have a choice but to wait for the official release of windows 8 and AMD's official drivers.
