Graphics/Glitchy Problem with Videos in WMP and Zune

Hi.. this is a loong description but here it goes.. I have had a perplexing issue for a while with video playback.. it's a glitch--there is a peculiar green polygon covering 75% of the video output in both Windows Media Player AND Zune. I would appreciate it if I could do away with it in both areas in which it is happening. The picture explains what I mean.

I tried a number of things but no luck:
-Tried various video file types (it's the same thing EXCEPT for MTS files which work in WMP - for some weird reason)
-Tried the WMP Troubleshooter in Control Panel
-Disabled DirectX acceleration in WMP settings
-Tried "sfc /scannow" in CMD but it tells me to check the error log, which I skimmed through and it contains NOTHING about video or graphics in general.
-Attempted to update Intel graphics drivers, but running the update application from Intel's shows me an error basically saying that "it isn't the correct one for my system" even though I know it is. This happened for both x86 and x64 versions.

The only thing that I can conclude at this point is the fact that WMP and Zune rely on the same source for their codecs (I think). VLC Media Player doesn't have this problem but Zune is where my song/video library is and always has been.. and I'd prefer to continue being able to watch videos normally wherever I want. I had also asked this on Microsoft forums but the best thing they could think of is restoring.. which I'm NOT going to do.

Please help and know that it's greatly appreciated. I can provide extra info if it's necessary.

I downloaded their Codec Tweak Tool and altered a few settings like the website described, namely the "Preferred Decoders" and disabling Microsoft codecs like the Media Foundation. I changed the decoder for video formats once to LAV and then to MERIT but none of those made a difference with WMP or Zune, so I reverted the changes. Is there something I'm not doing right with the tool..?

Don't think you're doing it wrong. Have you tried the option to totally disable the Media Foundation codecs?

Also concerned about your comment about trying to update drivers but not correct for your system. Have you tried the drivers from the Asus site?

I see you said you tried disabling the Media Foundation codecs.

    That's great! Happy dance!

Make sure you don't let Windows update install new drivers in the future.
