So I have a 17" laptop display with a native resolution of 1920x1080. I just bought advanced warfare and I keep my resolution at 1280x720. If I change my laptop display to 1360x768 will AW run better cause my display is less?

Changing your native desktop resolution won't have an effect since you are setting the resolution to 1280x720 within the game anyway.
