Monitor not waking up after sleep

Hi, could some one please help me, I have spent a few days looking for a solution.

In summary my display is set to turn off after 20 min in my power plan (computer stays awake always) which it does without a problem, however sometimes (about 1 in 5) the monitor does not wake up requiring me to turn off the power to the monitor, wait 20 sec then turn back on and the desktop is shown. I have tried differant cables and different connection (display port, hdmi1 and hdmi2, even tried using an adapter from DVI to HDMI on the graphics card) - all to no joy.

Other post have spoken about updating the drivers to the graphics card and chipset (done, still no luck). The final option is to have the screen on always (but this is not really an option, but a temp fix).

Does anyone please have a suggestion what to try next

Hi,
Welcome to the forums, try disabling Norton360 and use Defender to eliminate Norton.

I have the same issue. Windows 8 and also on 8.1. I have the power plan set to turn the display off after 10 minutes. The trouble is the only way I have found to turn it back on again is to press the PC power button to force a PC shutdown, then re-boot. I will continue to investigate but the workaround appears to be to set the power plan to never turn the display off.

I do have a wireless mouse and keyboard which I might expect a sleeping PC to ignore, but I have the PC sleep settings set to 2 hours so the PC is still live after 10 minutes but kbd/mouse activity does not wake up the graphics cards video output. I have not yet tried to change the graphics card driver as this is a new PC and it shouldn't need that.

Thanks DavePAC. I root caused the issue and it was actually the new monitor. It will be fixed under warranty so hopefully i will get it back soon. Thanks again
