Ideally, I'd like to use only the 630M, so I disabled the Intel one through the Device Manager and have had no problems.
I then went to launch the Nvidia Control Centre and I got this error message: View attachment 51284
So I re-enabled the Intel graphics card and I could then get back onto the Nvidia Control Centre... Strange!
Disabled Intel again, and I couldn't get back onto the Nvidia Control Centre, I then ran a DxDiag, and it is recognising the Nvidia as a 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter' if the Intel 4000 is disabled.
Checked in the Device Manager and that does show as the Nvidia even with the Intel 4000.
So, I'd just like to use the Nvidia GPU and be able to open the Control Centre.
Right thanks, just wondering how I could definitely set the Nvidia as the default one? Because I have set it as the default preferred graphics card but some programs use the Intel graphics, quite annoying!
Nvidia Control Panel is where you set it. Are you saying even if you set the Nvidia GPU as the preferred one it still is using the Intel? I believe on low-demand programs that can happen. Add the program manually in the Programs tab and set it to use the Nvidia GPU.

Unfortunately Nvidia cannot be the main one, fully; you can force it to be the main one but that won't guarantee it with all programs. Nvidia is added only for the 3D advanced settings. Intel is the main one that provides basic functionality.
At some times Nvidia will be automatically disabled and re-enabled on demand. The way I see it, without the Intel card, system balance is at stake. So theoretically the "basic display adapter" is used by force when Intel is not available because Nvidia doesn't have that functionality.
