I've bought new notebook Asus Model X452CP and using windows 8.1 Build 9600 64bit has Dual VGA Intel HD 4000 and Raden HD 8530M

The problem is when using driver Catalyst VGA ATI from Asus CD Driver (Win 8, 64 bit), many application has stopped running, like Power4Gear, Paint,etc. Why?

Already update from Asus Website, the problem is same.

When using last driver from AMD, working, now is Catalyst detected my card as R5 M240 instead of HD8530M?

*Update windows regularly.

Hey mate, uninstall all Asus drivers for graphics, restart, and try using the recommended driver from the Asus website. You will have to select support, select download, and then enter 'X452CP' into the space where you search for the proper downloads.

Install the latest recommended driver (Under VGA). If there is no option for it for Windows 8.1, use the 8 drivers

Thanks a lot for your advise..

Now my Laptop working well after update using last driver from Asus.com as you advised.

ATI = VGA_ATI_Mars_PX55_Win8_64_VER1310110000
INTEL = VGA_Intel_Win8_64_VER917103114

Do not using VGA driver on CD, coz not compatible with WIndows 8.1

Give it some time to display something, say 5 minutes. It should say something about not to turn off computer, or installing updates. Sometimes it takes a while. If you do see such a message, then let it go until complete.

If it remains dark, then we can start by attempting to restore via OPTION One here: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4692-system-restore-how-do-windows-8-a.html

After that, we'll work on making sure you have all your drivers installed, and then take updating windows slowly, say 100MB worth of updates at a time.

If it doesn't display anything, then just restart it from the case. See if you can restore through the tutorial I posted, but it may work without a restore.

That is correct, you should only get all the drivers from the Asus website.

If you haven't already, go back to the Asus website and install all the updated drivers for your computer.

You will need Intel Management Engine Interface, Intel Chipset Driver , Audio driver, LAN driver, and the Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver (though this one you may have already installed).

Any time windows offers updates for hardware, such as your monitor, GPU, really anything, decline it. It has far too many misses for it to be trusted. If I can recall, they are usually listed as optional updates.

Glad you found the cause! I had an inkling that such a hardware update was the reason for your trouble this last time around.

Hey Guys,

Had a same notebook like hendro, X452CP. My problem is that since I updated to Windows 8.1 i cannot use the switchable graphics functionality of this notebook, so im stuck with the on-board gpu (HD 4000). Are you having this same issue guys? I already tried installing the drivers you have mentioned but the problem still exist.

Hey mate,

Since your issue is vastly different than the original poster, I recommend you start a new thread on the forums. Take care
