Actually, forget that also as the HDMI and VGA connections on the laptop are output only. I had a brain fart. The only thing I possibly see working is some kind of wireless converter that would allow you to pick up the signal over wireless on your laptop. I'm not sure if SiliconDust boxes are satellite compatible, they may be.
G'day. We have a Coaster bus we have made into a motor home, we have a 12 volt sat vast box and dish, we have no room for a tv but have a place to put the laptop to use as a tv.

If the sat box has an HDMI output a computer monitor with an HDMI in and built in speakers will work. Just match the monitor size to the space you have available. As a plus you should also be able to use the monitor as a second screen, or even main screen on the laptop. If the monitor has the VESA mounting holes you can screw it to a wall just like you would a flat screen TV. I'd get one that was 1080P.

That is really the easiest and best solution.

If the sat receiver got component out, something inexpensive like this > Hauppauge Computer Works : USB-Live2 may work. Hauppauge got many more streaming\recording to pc solutions.
