No video signal with new video card

I got a new video card, namely the Sapphire Vapor-X R9 280X to replace my old (broken) video card, namely the Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Boost.

The problem is that I get no video signal when linking my new video card. The vga-led on motherboard turns on red (normally never)
I thought my motherboard is broken, but then I tried the video card (Radeon HD 6950) from my brother and he just shows video signal. (vga-led turns not on red this time on motherboard)

I would also say that on the box of my new video card is a 750 watt power supply recommended, but I only have a 600 watt power supply build in my pc.

I'm going to contact the store tomorrow, but I hope someone can help me to solve the problem.

    Thanks!

If you don't have the recommended power supply that's a start. Also, you're sure the card bus is compatible and all connections are good? Simply may not be getting enough power.

Well, not saying for sure but always best to have recommended PS. Even if you get it to work with that one, you may experience BSODs when gaming and other graphics intensive things.

I think I'll buy one power supply with at least 750 watt, so I see if it works. If the problems still occure, I let you know. Thanks.

    Sounds like a plan.

No friend with a machine that has that size PS to test the card in?

Also looking at the power cables, the contents include 8-PIN to 4 PIN x2 Power Cable. Worth checking that both are connected to the card & power supply.

Did find this on the OverclockersClub.com

"Power requirements for this card are a pair of PCIe 8-pin power connections to supply up to 375 watts to the card when combined with the 75 watts delivered through the 16x PCIe slot. A 650 to 750 watt power supply should be fine when using this card."
