I can't seem to even get passed the install part since the last 2 updates, all I get on my old Vista desktop is that no supported hardware is found, and I have a GT8600, The last driver that installed was 340.

Newer drivers may install but likely don't get you any new features for that card. For most people though, I think It's hard to resists installing the newer drivers.

They drop the older cards from the whitelist in the inf but it can be hacked, not worth it, no payoff. Even my GT 730m doesn't benefit much, I just update for the OGL changes.

yeah, I saw that part on the Nvidia site about this old card after I posted , oh well, its just a backup desktop, I hardly use anymore anyway, not gona bother re doin the inf just to install on it.

Its gettin about the same with this Radeon 7690m xt (6770 re brand) on this HP laptop, at least I'm able to directly D/L the AMD drivers now and not have to wait 5 yrs for HP to update the damned driver anymore, I think any new driver benefits won't be of much use on this one either.

I'm already on Ebay lookin lol

Jeez, people should have the right to fry their GPU if they want.

Problem is then they try to claim warranty repair.

EDIT: They're going nuts over at Guru3D. Nvidia might have to reconsider. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I was a bit interested in the 900M.
EDIT: there aren't a lot of laptops with the 900 series around, that's high end.

In most of the extreme cases this move made by Nvidia is pretty good. It's for (expensive) laptops.
Overclocking a laptop is more risky than overclocking a desktop. After all, the frying pan still remains the best and cheapest choice for the morning eggs.

But not even under-clocking is allowed anymore. Come on! Those who want to prevent frying, in some cases, are also not allowed to do what they want. Underclocking can destabilize the system as well... (!?)
Ok, underclocking isn't widely applied but it remains (was) a choice.

They removed not only the bells but also the whistles.

Anyway for my "big" gaming needs... give me a Quadro instead of a Geforce next time I upgrade.

Thank you for updates on new drivers did not realize came out on 2/10/15.
Like EVGA 3 year warranty, but burn it up due to overclock, sure warranty won't be valid.
Tell you this card is quiet, fans do not run till reaches higher temps EVGA - Products - EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0+ - 04G-P4-3975-KR
