ATI Radeon X1200 Driver for Windows 8?

So I installed Windows 8 on my laptop today and so far it's okay but it's using the basic driver for Windows 8 and I need to find an actual driver for my X1200, im aware that CCC doesn't work with Win 8.

    Thanks in Advance!

It would be nice if you could post how you did it as to share your answer with everyone else. Even if you found it somewhere, mind linking it so others may find it?

Sorry if I sound like an ass. Just making sure everyone gets their preview working correctly

Find the correct CCC for your chip, download it, and let it put the files in the default folder but DON'T install CCC. Go to Device Manager, Display Adapters and you should see the default Microsoft Display Adapter, click update, direct the updater to the folder your driver is in and it will install your driver for you.

Hi Batjoke100. Could you perhaps add just a little more info regarding your solution ? I have an X1200, and tried doing as you said in your last post. But pointing the updater to the created folders (C:\Program Files\ATI and ATI Technologies), with 'Include subfolders' checked, resulted in W8CP saying it was happy to remain with 'Microsoft Basic Display Adaptor'. I imagine because no *.inf files in those folders. Regards, DK

Hi Batjoke100. Always the way: Describe a problem: Solution magically appears :-) I just told W8CP to search the whole bloomin C:\ drive for *.inf file that was to it's liking (I think this technique might be a good one for anyone lumbered with the 'Microsoft Basic Display Adaptor'). Anyway, low and behold, W8CP installed 'ATI Radeon X1200 Series' driver. A bit of delving revealed that W8CP fished this from folder C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\cl_95951.inf_x86_17c564cdeab7bdc1. Folder date suggest this is 'part of W8CP', rather than something the ATI X1200 driver download plonked. Regards, DK
