I had same problem but i solved it a few minutes ago. This is the way:
    Install 10-2_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc (here it is: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/10-2_leg...-64_dd_ccc.exe )
Open "screen resolution" -> "advanced settings" -> "properties" -> driver -> "update driver" -> "browse my computer for driver software" -> "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" -> "have disk" -> "browse" -> go to "C:\ATI\Support\10-02_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc\Packages\Drivers\Display\LH_INF" [LH6A_INF for 64 bit {i think}] and choose "CL_95951.inf" -> done
    I hope, it will work.

    I'm sorry but it shows:
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
The driver selected for this device does not suport this version of Windows".

    Any ideas for it?

Driver is obviously an earlier version.

Try installing it in win 7 compatibility mode.

To install an older driver in win 7 you need to install it in compatibility mode.

To install in compatibility mode right click the installer, go to properties, then compatibility. Choose the appropriate OS

    Hey, thanks for answer.
I deinstalled all ATI programs, cleaned drive and registry with CCleaner, installed ATI how you said, then tried to install driver.

    And still same problem.

Maybe problem is with CL_95951.inf file?

    Greets.

I got my old X1450 working with a similar method to csae, but I, at the browse point, just pointed it at C:/ATI and set it to search subfolders - found & installed a driver no problem.

    Then the PSU blew up......

    ...or was it the motherboard???

    Heigh-ho!

MadHorseman, after your method it shows
"Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.
    Microsoft Basic Display Adapter".

So I still have this 1024x768 resolution, and nothing changed.

    Greets.

PS: I even tried to change driver file, editing "windows 6.0" to "windows 6.1" or "6.2" but still the same...

Wow, that was crazy. But I've found solution.
    1. Download ATI Vista32-64 driver from ati site.
    2. Install it with Compatibility Mode with Vista (not XP, not 7 - cause it showed communique as above).
    3. Here I tried to install drivers (repacked from ati site, downloaded Win7 from Toshiba site and downloaded Vista from Toshiba) /cause my notebook is Toshiba.
It didn't work, it had loop --> install ATI Manager, it installed "sth" but destination folder was empty.
    4. So I tried your method csae. First with Win7 .inf file --> same as above. Next I even tried with WinXP driver --> BSOD after restart, I couldn't launch notebook (BSOD loop). So I needed to reformat it, lol.

And finally, without any hope, I tried same with Win Vista .inf file from Toshiba site.
    And it works!

    Thanks all for help!

    PS. I use Win 8 32 bit.
PPS. Don't try to use Mobility Modder - doesn't work on Windows 8.
