The "m" in GT 740m means "mobile", so I'm assuming its a laptop. That would be the GPU you'd use for gaming. Your second GPU if you have one would likely be in your CPU which would make it an APU.
My ASUS laptop has an AMD A10-4600M processor. That processor is an APU, its a CPU with an integrated GPU on the die. That gives me an AMD Radeon® HD 7660G + 7670M. The 7660M has 1 GB of dedicated DDR3 VRAM. On battery it will use the 7669G to save power. When tethered it can switch to the 7660M on the fly for programs or games that need the graphics power.

The Intel would be your low power low performance side of your dual graphics setup. The 740m is what you'd want to use for gaming.

No, you can't use them both at the same time, if that's what your asking. Other than that there should be a utility that will let you mange which card does what. From the factory it should be automatic. Games should automatically use the GT 740m. I don't game on my laptop so I never worried about it. I do know that I can set it up to ask me what card should be used when I launch a program or game. Then once I tell it which one to use it always uses that card for that program. I can manually set it to always use one specific card too if I want. My laptop is all AMD/ATI so it won't use the same utilities yours does.

Yeah, dual graphics in a laptop is one or the other but not both. You wouldn't gain much by adding the Intel to the mix anyway. In a desktop PC you would install two (or more) identical graphics cards and link them though Crossfire or SLI. That would be a true multi GPU setup.
