AMD/Catalyst defeats Fn Keys Display control in 8.1 ??

I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue - Using 8.1 on a notebook with
amd Trinity APU [A6-4400m] - all the display related Fn Keys are defeated. The non-display-related Fn + keys work.
I can use CCC to manipulate external monitors, brightness, etc ok but it is not a good solution.

Plug in HDMI to external monitor and I get, by default, both.. both set non-optimally. must manually defeat the onboard display, change settings on external, reset overscan, etc etc etc

    what's the fix?

I have an ASUS K75DE with an A10 running 8.1 Enterprise. With the stock Windows 8.1 drivers all my function keys work as advertised including the display functions. I usually use the Windows Key + P key to set Extend or PC only. What drivers are you running?

this one is running the full Catalyst suite, driver version 13.251.0.0
The display looks great, and CCC runs fine - nothing abnormal, but the display function keys are DOA.
    other Fn combos work

I just downloaded and installed 13.152.1.1, that's is what's listed in the information section of ccc. Everything still works. To get all my Fn keys working I have to install an ATK package from ASUS.

I installed the newest version because my card (5770) is doing that auto-scaling thing they like to do, leaving black bars along all borders. It's easy to fix by just adjusting it in CCC, but when I open CCC there are no available settings for displays. Any idea what's up?
