Screen Resolution problem after upgrading to Windows 8.1

Few months ago, I upgrade my Windows 8 to Windows 8.1
Ever since the upgrade, I couldn't play my games in native resolution.

FYI, my laptop default screen resolution is 1920x1080 There is no problem with the resolution inside windows/desktop. However, I have to set the in-game resolution to 1600x900 in order to fit the screen. If I set the in-game resolution to 1920x1080(Native) then the screen will be too big for my laptop monitor.

All my games have to set to 1600x900 now....

I've also upgrade my nvidia to the latest driver.
My laptop is an Asus N53J laptop.

Please advise. Thanks

You need to set the enable GPU scaling in your Nvidia control panel.

Don't use resolutions with unsupported refresh rates ie. anything lower than 59.97hz. You should be able to use most resolutions as long as they are 60hz. Try using variants of the 16:9 such as 1280x720, 1600x900, 1920x1080. Some of the resolutions are 16x10 and you will either have stretching or black bars if you use those.
