Multiple monitors/screens-how to get different resolutions

Hi,
I have a brand-new HDCP supporting monitor (native resolution 1920 x 1080,) on which I play the latest blu ray movies from the computers built-in blu ray drive, and a 9 year old flat screen non-HD plasma TV (on which I watch You Tube, BBC iPlayer and 4OD, streamed from the PC via a VGA cable,) both connected to my GT610 NVidia graphics card.
It seems I can only get them at the same resolution.
My desktop does however have it's own on board graphics processor.
Is it possible to run these two devices at different resolutions? (Since the ancient flat screen can only handle resolutions up to 1600 x 1200.)

Hi Shawn,
Unfortunately I want the screens to duplicate the display data, since they are in different areas and not side-by-side, but not the resolutions.
I don't think this is going to work at all however, since the BD player is complaining that the older screen is not HDCP compliant, forcing me to unplug the older screen and restart every time I play a Blu ray DVD on the desktop screen.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to have separate screen resolutions per display with them being duplicated. :(

Duplicate will default to using the lowest screen resolution of the displays for all of them.

At least I have located a HDMI to VGA converter so I do not have to disconnect the old TV and reboot every time before I watch a BD movie on the PC monitor (see links.)

Cable Matters Active HDMI to VGA Male to Female Adapter: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

or:

HDMI to VGA RGBHV processor ( ignores HDCP ) APPLE SKY BLU-R 720P 1080P | eBay

By the way, the old TV will accept the higher resolution (1920 x 1080), but it "overscans" creating nasty blotches around fast moving objects on the screen. Just afraid it might damage the screen if I do this, since I have heard of this happening before with e.g. games consoles being used with much older TVs.)

You might see if adjusting the desktop resizing settings in the NIVIDIA Control Panel for the TV may help with the overscan.

Great thanks!
By the way I purchased one of those cable adapter things locally, like the one here:

Cable Matters Active HDMI to VGA Male to Female Adapter: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

But it didn't overcome the HDCP issue. So I have purchased one from the other link in my previous post, hopefully that will work! :)

edit: However one thing I will check in the BIOS settings is if you can have the graphics card working in parallel with the onboard graphics chip.

Usually it's either or and not both with the integrated graphics VS graphics card. Please let us know how it went.
