Solved AMD card not working after 8.1 Update

Hey guys new member here. I recently update my Dell Inspiron 15r with an inbuilt ATi Radeon HD 8730M to Windows 8.1. Unfortunately, after the update only the Intel HD card worked. I re-installed the drivers from the Dell website but they did little to solve the problem except fix CCC. Games such as Assassin's Creed Revelations which used to run at 60fps at maxed out settings now stutter at medium to low. I bought this laptop because of its dedicated card and it is a shame it is not working. I have the Windows 8 re-install disk supplied by Dell but I would like to fix this problem rather than shy away from it. Any help on this matter will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi shrik450. Welcome to 8 forums.

First uninstall the drivers that you have from the Dell website. Download the drivers from AMD site. Here is the link Download. Use the official drivers for Win 8.

Disable the onboard Intel card from BIOS

How do I uninstall those? Control panel shows only CCC.
Download the drivers from AMD site. Here is the link Download. Use the official drivers for Win 8.
AMD website says that its drivers do not support Laptops with switchable graphics, which is why I went for Dell's in the first place.
Disable the onboard Intel card from BIOS
I have tried to do so, but my BIOS has no such option.

Unfortunately, when you have "switchable" graphics (sometimes known as "hybrid" graphics), the hardware require special drivers that are nearly always ONLY available from the laptop supplier. Forcing the install of drivers from AMD will most likely NOT work, as the drivers at the AMD site are not designed to support switchable/hybrid graphics.

This is the case because the laptop suppliers contract with builder to use specialized hardware on their custom motherboards. AMD does not supply drivers for such specialized hardware -- they tell you to go to the hardware supplier site.

Hello.
I've mostly solved this for myself.
The problem is NOT with the AMD drivers, but with the intel HD drivers Windwos 8.1 supplies. These, unfortunately, are not made for switchable graphics. Just go to your manufacturer's website, download the appropriate intel HD drivers, and you are fit to go. Thank you all for your help.
