Hello,

I have one ATI Radeon HD4550 video card (GV-R455D3-512i Gigabyte) on my computer and my apps were working fine on windows 8. After I installed the update to windows 8.1 some of my apps stop working because now my video card is not compatible with OpenGl 2. I use OnOne Software to process some of my photographs....
Can somebody give me some help?

Thanks in advance

Hello javiergme,

Since no one has respoded in the last 19 hours, I will now attempt a response to your issue. First, your questions and then my response follows:

some of my apps stop working because now my video card is not compatible with OpenGl 2

The specs listed here would indicate you card can support OpenGL 3.2.

ATI Radeon? HD 4550 Graphics Specifications

I use OnOne Software to process some of my photographs.

I can't make any connection between your apps not working and the above software.

My suggestion:

Download the AMD auto detect utility and update to the latest available driver:

AMD Driver Autodetect

You might also want to check for any firmware updates that are available from the manufacturer. You can also check here to see if there were any later firmware versions reported by others. Be careful what you do if you find a later version. Use at your own risk:

Video Bios Collection | techPowerUp

Now, if none of the above gets your apps working again, I would advise you to just respond in detail about "what happens" when you try to use the individual apps and that may be better way to get to the bottom of your issue. Good luck.

Hello my2cents

Thank you very much for your answer. I did everything you wrote here and also I noticed that my OpenGL ext is 1.1
Is there any way to upgrade this OpenGL version without having to change the video card?

Thanks in advance :)

Can you run dxdiag and take a snapshot of the "system" and "display" tabs please?

Ok, I see there is a later driver available but I've already pointed you to that link. Anyway, I am having a hard time believing your graphics card support is limited to OpenGL v1.1. With that said, I want you to download and run this utility so I can see exactly what version is supported. However, I'm hoping yiou were not referring to the WDDM version of 1.1 by mistake:

Download, unzip, and run please:

Download Portable GPU Caps Viewer 1.18.1

OK, if you specs show support for OpenGL 3.2, and you are (almost) on the latest driver, then it has to be a GPU BIOS update that is required. Bear in my that I am making my assumptions based on all current data available. So, download GPU-z portable and give me a screenshot of your bios version please:

OK, unfortunately, I don't see a bios update available for your specific Gigabyte ATI Radeon 4550 running at 600/800 and that also means (unfortunately) I am just out of ideas as well. At this point, I just don't know where else to look; however, if some other forum member has any new ideas, please chime in to help here. Sorry I couldn't help you javiergme. Good luck.

One more thought. I just noticed that it looks like you are using the "microsoft version" of the AMD driver and, since it is not the latest available version, I would assume that you did not download the latest driver from AMD as I advised you to do. Moreover, that could explain why your OpenGL version is "clamped" at v1.1. So, if you have not already downloaded the latest driver, you'd better give it a try.

That driver was last updated 9/2012. So, you didn't run the amd auto detect as I asked you to do; eh?

And, BTW, those drivers were probably overwritten by an optional Windows Update if you have it configured to automatically download and install updated drivers. Here are the latest:

About "So, you didn't run the amd auto detect..."
I did, you can be sure of that and I got this:
That menas I have the last updated driver

Then I apologize for that mis-assumption but you are still on old drivers so try to update them. Good luck.

YEP, that is telling you that you do not have the latest driver so just leave everything checked and continue the installation.

I did it since the first time I run this exe and I get this:
