    Can I add more dedicated video ram to my laptop


    I have an Acer Model: Aspire M5-581T

    6 GB ram, and i want to know if and how to take some of that and turn it into dedicated video ram so i can play certain games. if i go through the bios can i somehow do this?

    This should help you.....but remember, depending on the GPU you have will make or brake the game play experience.

    Well, I don't know.. but According to Best Buy, it should have 128 *GB* of Video memory

    Acer - Ultrabook 15.6" Laptop - 6GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Silver - M5-581T-6405

    From what I can tell, this laptop uses dedicated video memory, as such it's hard wired on to the motherboard. Normally there is shared video memory, and you can set the video memory size in the BIOS.

    Hey Mystere, you might want to change your 128 *GB* to .....128 *MB* of dedicated......I think you just had a typo there.

    And on how much was it set? 128? 256? That wasn't mentioned.

    Sorry, I get it: set it to maximum.

    Some of us have 256MB as a max and that doesn't look like much. Either way on most hardware that's OS controlled and 7/8 OSes are more generous on shared memory than XP was...

Dedicated video memory in Graphic Cards
There is an option in my bios to change the dedicated video memory of my integrated graphics card.Is there any problem if I increase it?(Currently it is 64 MB, there is maximum 1024 MB available in the option) Kindly see my specs below.

Is there a way to swap these values? default windows 8 drivers has 256 shared system memory but 0 dedicated video memory but after installing sis mirage 3+ drivers dedicated video memory has gone up to 256mb and shared system memory has gone low to 64mb. Editing sis drivers maybe? but how?
