VGA connector on Sanyo DP26648 TV worked until 2 weeks ago. It's taken this long to find out why.

Another person wanted to use the TV as a monitor like I do sometimes.
  1. He unplugged monitor from computer
  2. He plugged one end of a VGA male - VGA male to the computer
  3. answered the phone
  4. Tried plugging the still turned on monitor into the TV and blew circuit breaker instantly
  5. Kept trying and even connected them before flipping the circuit breaker

Could someone say if it's worth fixing or how much it would cost?

Hello friend,

Which end is not working now? The TV or the laptop? What are the specific symptoms after the circuit breaker blew when you try to use whichever one is broken? And how did your friend manage to plug a VGA male into a VGA male connection?

It's a desktop pc. The pc works fine. The TV works fine too. Unless I try connecting the pc to TV thru VGA cable.
The VGA cable is male at both ends.Plugs into pc female and TV female.
If any pc is plugged into the TV, it pops the circuit breaker.

Guess the problem was trying to plug a live monitor into a live TV VGA.

Yes, I would certainly agree that could cause an issue. So, if you insert the VGA plugs at both ends and then turn the TV and PC on, does the circuit breaker still pop or was that just a one-time issue? I'm still a bit confused as to what needs fixing; however, the first thing I would do is check for bent/damaged pins on the VGA cable (which I assume you have already done).

Not bent or damaged pins. 4 different cables produce same result, circuit blows like a dead short.
The cables work when connecting pc to a different TV.

OK, then it has to be an issue with the TV. However, if the TV still works and it only does not work when the VGA input is attempted, the damage is obviously isolated to that area; however, I can only assume that it would not be worth fixing relative to the cost to do the actual repair. Good luck friend.
