    If you replace Win7 with Win8, you will be FORCED to use the default Windows Basic video driver -- as I have said repeatedly, there is NO video driver for this chipset that works in Windows 8.

    As far as I know -- NO. Intel totally dropped support for this chipset YEARS ago. Your only recourse to get better graphics performance is to replace it.

    Does that mean can I still use the new Windows 8.1 with the Basic driver? And for the video graphics purposes i'll use Win XP Pro SP3.

Solved smooth as glass in Windows Updates & Activation
Installed the new up dates every thing went smooth no problem at all I have been useing it for a couple of hours. I first did the normal up dates than the big one worked great.

I have an AMD HD 7870 based graphics card working with Windows 8 Pro 64 bit. I want to check which graphics modes are supported (not just by the currently connected monitor). Is there a method or utility available which interrogates the graphics card to list the graphics modes supported?
This youtube video video looks extremely smooth and I was wondering why. My minecraft runs at 100+ frames but, it doesn't look that smooth. Does anyone know the video looks so smooth? Thanks, -Rick
