New GPU prevents PC from waking from sleep

I recently installed a new GTX660 Ti GPU, but I am now experiencing a major issue with the sleep function. Whilst I am able to sleep the PC, when I try to wake it, nothing really happens. I hear the "device disconnected" sound and then nothing for at least 2 minutes before it automatically restarts.

Once it eventually boots, a message appears saying "Windows experienced a problem and had to shut down" (owtte)

I have attached a screenshot from WhoCrashed.

I have obviosly tried installing new drivers, reseating the GPU etc but to no avail. Has anyone got any solutions to this issue?

Thanks in advance

Check the event viewer. Your driver is probably crashing. Make sure to use a whql driver. Try installing older drivers to see if the issue is fixed. There may be an older driver that doesn't crash.

Hi,
Thanks for the response. I've tried a few older drivers (going as far back as available on the NVIDIA site) but the problem seems to persist across all versions.

Check bios settings to see what the sleep state is set at and check to see what the graphics settings are for your desktop. I'll be home momentarily where i can Get behind a computer and communicate better.

So I did a bit of messing around in the BIOS and have discovered that S1 sleep works fine. It just seems to be S3 that won't work with the GTX660 Ti. A couple of other threads I found suggest it's a mobo incompatibility issue which is a bit of a pain in the rear.

If you have any other possible solutions, please fire away, otherwise, thanks for your help.

Is the BIOS up to date? Maybe there has been a BIOS update that has been released that will solve this problem.

It seems this has been happening to some users as far back as the X58 chipset, I hope that your issue does get resolved by doing a BIOS update :).
