Tripple Monitors

Hi everyone,

I have a laptop with one VGA port but I wanted to connect it to two extra monitors so that I could create a triple monitor system. I bought a VGA splitter to be able to connect all monitors but what I discovered is that it still recognizes it as a second monitor. I have the screen on my laptop extended with the second one but I cant extend the second one to the third one. It just duplicates it. Is there any way I can download software to make it recognize the third monitor?

PS: In case there is no way I can get a fully extended triple monitor system, what are the advantages of two monitors displaying the same info?

The VGA splitter just sends a duplicate signal to the second monitor. That's all it can do and software won't change that. It's just a signal duplicator, not an actual video card. To use a third independent monitor you'd need something like a USB video card.

Amazon has usb to vga as well as usb to hdmi. Just do a search and find what is available. I'm sure other retailers have similar units. I have a usb to hdmi and it works very nicely, though for a two monitor set up.

I think a device like the one in the link below will give best results for having 3 independent monitors .never used on myself ,I just used Google to find a device for what you were trying to achieve .

Just do not expect too much of it, it's dependent on main GPU and laptop ones are not renown for performance as opposed to desktop ones.

Check the specs for the one caperjack linked to. If I read it correctly it states
If your laptop doesn't have a displayport your sol for that model. If I was buying one I think I'd look for one that connects via USB.

Not a problem caperjack, as far as I'm concerned the onus is on the OP to do the research and make sure they get what works. I just happened to notice so I mentioned it. I gave up counting left open unanswered dead end threads. Every once in a while I do a clean up of my subscribed threads and delete the old stale ones.
