AMD CCC for HD 4290 appears to do nothing

I let MS install the default video drivers for my onboard HD 4290. Then, later, I saw an update on the AMD site with "legacy" 13.1 drivers for the HD 2x/3x/4x series -- so I installed those. While that didn't fail, it didn't appear to do anything much, either.

I was able to open CCC, but here on Win8, it's pretty much useless as it provides me NO video info and no way to tweak any settings.

Then today, I saw another notice of the 13.4 legacy drivers and installed those -- same results.

UPDATE: There are videos on UTube that show how to do this ... essentially, you select the W8INF folder from where AMD expands the driver pack and install from that. If you're using an HD4x-series, only install the 13.1 Legacy, not the 13.4.

For 4000 and lesser series use "amd_catalyst_12.6_legacy_win8" and make sure that .Net 4 is active for CCC to work right. It is not enough to use win7 and win8 legacy drivers but only that one.

You can use the 12.6 version -- if you like -- but I've been using the 13.1 "legacy" version (since I figured out HOW to install it) and it works fine, no problems.

It looks like it has all the usual options -- at least, it looks like the same options as the Wion7 driver. But, I don't mess with those, so I can't attest that any of them actually work. Sorry.
